Optical Engine and Data Acquisition

The AS 200E is built around a high-definition optical system designed for true-color 3D capture. It uses proprietary image sensor technology combined with advanced algorithms to achieve a claimed accuracy of 20 micrometers over a full arch. This level of accuracy is maintained on different substrates, including prepared dentin, enamel, and implant scan bodies.

Field of View (FOV): The scanner offers two distinct FOV settings to accommodate different clinical situations. The large tip provides a 16 x 14 mm FOV for rapid acquisition of full arches, while the small tip (12 x 12 mm) allows for access to tight posterior spaces or detailed margin capture.   Depth of Field: With a 15 mm depth of field, the scanner maintains focus and clarity even on relatively steep preparation angles, reducing the need for constant angulation adjustments by the operator.   Color Reproduction: Unlike scanners that utilize texture mapping as an overlay, the AS 200E captures true-to-life color data integrated with the 3D mesh. This is facilitated by lossless image compression algorithms that preserve the integrity of the visual data for soft tissue assessment and patient communication.

Data Integrity: The transmission protocol prioritizes data packet integrity to prevent mesh corruption during wireless transfer. This ensures that the final model is a faithful representation of the oral anatomy, with no artifacts introduced by transmission dropouts.

Power Management and Thermal Dynamics

Weighing only 245g (including battery), it is one of the lightest wireless scanners in existence. Its wireless induction charging system and included spare battery ensure a continuous, non-stop workflow for high-volume environments.

Duo scan buttons & motion-sensor remote control

Identical scan buttons on both sides of the handpiece allow comfortable left- or right-handed operation. The integrated motion sensor enables direct manipulation (pan, rotate, zoom) of the 3D model on screen without touching the computer, supporting a cleaner clinical workflow.

A "Zero-Maintenance" Engineering Philosophy

A major advantage of the AS 200E lies in its Calibration-Free technology. Unlike systems requiring frequent manual adjustments, the AS 200E maintains its optical integrity throughout its entire lifespan. This eliminates downtime and the hidden costs associated with purchasing or managing calibration tools.

Hygiene protocol

Scanner body is cleaned by surface wiping with approved disinfectant wipes (no immersion or autoclaving). Removable tips are the only autoclavable component.

System Architecture and Open Workflow

The AS 200E operates within the AS Connect (ScanPro) software environment.

From a systems integration standpoint, the scanner functions as an open architecture device.

ScanPro – intuitive interface with occlusion analysis, undercut detection, margin-line editing, and measurement tools.

Additional modules – Oral Health Report (visual patient summary), Model Builder (preparation for 3D printing), Orthodontic Simulation.

File Output: It exports standard STL and PLY file formats. This ensures that the acquired data is not locked into a proprietary ecosystem and can be imported into any major CAD software for exocad, 3Shape, or other design platforms.

Computational Requirements: To process the dense mesh data generated by the scanner, Alliedstar recommends a workstation with an Intel Core i7 (9th gen or higher) processor, 32GB of RAM, and a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card. This specification ensures that the software can handle real-time rendering and model manipulation without performance bottlenecks.

Data Storage: The system includes 10 TB of cloud storage, providing a robust solution for data redundancy, remote collaboration with laboratories, and archiving without reliance on local server infrastructure.
