Bambu Lab X2D AMS Combo 3D Printer
Dual-Nozzle 3D Printer for Clean Supports & Multi-Material Printing
The Bambu Lab X2D Combo pairs the advanced dual-nozzle X2D printer with the AMS 2 Pro, a 4-spool material system that also functions as a filament dryer. This combination transforms the printer into a complete multi-material workshop. Designed for engineers, product designers, and advanced makers, the Combo handles engineering-grade filaments (ABS, Nylon, PC), flexible materials (TPU), and complex multi-material supports without the waste typically associated with single-nozzle solutions.

 | Print Volume mono-buse : 256 × 256 × 260 mm | | Print Volume double buse : 235,5 × 256 × 256 mm |
 | Printing Speed Up to 1000 mm/s | | Nozzle Temperature Up to 300 °C |
AI Monitoring and Servo Precision
Equipped with 31 sensors, the X2D monitors every stage of the process. Its closed-loop PMSM servo motor samples position and torque 20,000 times per second to eliminate surface imperfections and detect clogs before they cause a failure.
The integrated AI camera watches over your build plate, detecting "spaghetti" or debris for total peace of mind, even remotely via the Bambu Handy app.

The Dynamic Flow Calibration system simultaneously monitors the status of the extruder motor, print head, nozzles, and filament, compensating for deviations in real time before each print.
Dual-Nozzle System: Dedicated Support Material & Clean Part Removal
The X2D Combo inherits the same mechanical dual-nozzle design as the standalone X2D, but the AMS 2 Pro amplifies its capabilities.
Main nozzle (direct drive) : Prints the primary model using a high-force PMSM servo motor. This nozzle handles the majority of the print volume at speeds up to 1,000 mm/s. Auxiliary nozzle (Bowden) : Dedicated exclusively to support material or a second material. It is driven by a remote stepper motor, keeping the toolhead light and reducing vibrations at high speeds. | | |
With the AMS 2 Pro, the auxiliary nozzle can automatically draw from any of the four loaded spools. This means you can assign, for example, PETG as support for a PLA model, or PVA as soluble support for complex internal cavities. The support material never mixes with the model material, so supports snap off cleanly or dissolve away, leaving no scars, no sanding, and no post-processing tools required.
Benefit over standalone: Without the AMS, you would manually swap filament for the auxiliary nozzle. With the Combo, the printer automatically selects the correct support material from the AMS 2 Pro, enabling unattended multi-material support printing.
Closed-loop servo main extruder: smooth surfaces at any speed
Pre-failure jam detection: The motor detects abnormal torque and stops printing before the filament jams or the nozzle clogs.
Dynamic pressure compensation: Extrusion pressure adjusts in real time based on nozzle speed and acceleration, eliminating bulges in corners or under-extrusion on long straight lines.
Extrusion force: Approximately 8.5 kg of thrust—70% more than previous-generation extruders—ensuring a consistent feed even with flexible or abrasive materials.

Auxiliary extruder: A conventional stepper motor driving a Bowden system. Its speed is limited to approximately 200 mm/s, which is sufficient for support structures and secondary colors, but not intended for high-speed printing of the model.
Active Chamber Heating (65°C): Warp-Free Engineering Materials
The active heating chamber reaches 65 °C, which prevents technical materials from warping. Two smart modes adapt to your filament:

Two intelligent thermal modes:
| Mode | | Use Case | | Behavior |
| Cool Mode | | PLA, PETG, TPU | | Maximum part cooling fan speed, fresh air intake from outside the chamber. Prevents heat creep and ensures sharp overhangs and bridges. |
| Mode Heat | | ABS, ASA, Nylon, PC, CF/GF composites | | Closed-loop air circulation, active heating to 65°C, vents closed. Eliminates warping (curling) and layer separation common with technical materials. |
Heated bed: Reaches 120°C, ensuring strong first-layer adhesion for all materials. The textured PEI spring steel plate provides excellent grip without glue for most filaments.

| | The X2D Combo features a dual-intake cooling system that directs air precisely to the extrusion point. |
31 sensors + AI monitoring: reliability without supervision
The X2D Combo features 31 sensors plus a computer vision system. Each sensor plays a specific role in preventing failures.
- Scans the build plate before printing to detect debris or leftover parts.
- Monitors the print in real time to detect “spaghetti” failures, layer misalignment, or blob formation.
- Monitors the purge chute to detect clogs.
- Records time-lapse videos on the built-in 8 GB eMMC storage.
When a problem is detected: The printer pauses, displays a QR code on the 5-inch touchscreen, and links directly to a wiki video showing how to resolve the specific issue.
Three-Stage Filtration (UL 2904 Certified): Safe for Indoor Use
1. G3 pre-filter : Captures large particles (dust, debris) before they reach the HEPA filter
2. H12 HEPA filter : Removes 99.97% of particles ≥0.3 microns – including ultrafine particles (UFPs) from melted filament
3. Activated carbon (granular coconut shell) : Absorbs volatile organic compounds (VOCs) including styrene (from ABS) and lactide (from PLA)

Printing ABS, Nylon, or ASA releases VOCs and UFPs that are irritants or potential long-term health hazards. The X2D Combo filters recirculated chamber air continuously, maintaining safe air quality in home offices, schools, and shared workshops.
Automatic Calibration and Self-Tests
The X2D Combo performs a complete self-test sequence upon first startup (30–40 minutes) and can repeat it on demand.
✔️Platen Leveling: Eddy current sensor + strain gauge None
✔️Z-offset: Automatic nozzle/bed contact detection
✔️Flow rate: Dynamic flow rate compensation during purging
✔️Advanced pressure: Servo motor torque sampling
✔️Vibration compensation: Accelerometer on the print head
✔️Belt tension: Automatic tensioner (no manual adjustment)
✔️Nozzle alignment (dual): Mechanical calibration between main and auxiliary nozzles
The AMS 2 Pro’s RFID system automatically loads filament profiles—temperature, flow rate, and retraction settings. No manual configuration in the slicer is required for Bambu filaments.
AMS 2 Pro: 4-spool system with drying function
The AMS 2 Pro is more than just a spool holder. It is a smart material management system, seamlessly integrated into the Bambu ecosystem.

| | Capacity: Holds four 1.75 mm filament spools simultaneously. Expandable to 16 spools by connecting multiple AMS 2 Pro units (requires a FAZ013-N 4-in-1 PTFE adapter for more than two units). Passive drying: A sealed chamber with desiccant packets keeps the filament dry during storage and printing.
Active drying (optional): With an optional power cord, the AMS 2 Pro actively heats the spools to reduce moisture before and during printing. Essential for hygroscopic materials such as Nylon, PC, and PVA.
Automatic RFID detection: Automatically reads Bambu Lab filament spools—the material type, color, and remaining length are loaded into the printer without manual entry.
Automatic spool switching: If a spool is empty, the AMS 2 Pro automatically switches to a second identical spool (if loaded), allowing long prints to continue unattended.

Improved TPU Handling The AMS 2 Pro’s redesigned filament path handles rigid TPUs better than previous generations of the AMS. (Flexible TPUs are still recommended for direct feeding to the main nozzle.)
The X2D Combo features a 5-inch, 1280×720 capacitive touchscreen mounted at an ergonomic angle. It is fully compatible with Bambu Studio (a free slicer based on PrusaSlicer) and the Bambu Handy mobile app.
Total Material Synergy

The X2D Combo enables complex prints combining materials with opposing properties, such as rigid PLA and flexible TPU, or complex mechanical parts requiring soluble supports. Automatic RFID recognition instantly identifies Bambu Lab filaments and synchronizes the optimal drying and printing settings.
