Automatic Material System (AMS) 

 

The AMS 2 Pro 2 , included in the H2D Combo, manages up to four filaments simultaneously, with integrated drying at 65°C to maintain filament quality (humidity <10%). The AMS HT  variant, designed for high-temperature filaments, heats to 85°C and supports up to eight units for a total of 36 filaments. The system uses motorized rollers and 15 sensors to monitor feeding velocity, tension, and filament tip location, ensuring reliable extrusion with a precision of ±0.1 mm. Enclosed Chamber with Active Heating

 

The fully enclosed chamber, constructed from aluminum, steel, plastic, and glass, maintains thermal stability, critical for materials prone to warping, such as ABS. Active heating up to 65°C minimizes dimensional inaccuracies. High-Speed Printing

 

With a maximum print speed of 600 mm/s using optional high-flow hotends, the H2D Combo excels in rapid prototyping. The CoreXY motion system, driven by two motors coordinating X and Y axes via belts, reduces moving mass, enabling high speeds without compromising accuracy. 

 

 

 

 

Precision and Automation

 

The H2D Combo achieves 50 µm motion accuracy with the optional Vision Encoder, which provides closed-loop control for stepper motors, rivaling industrial CNC machines. A pre-flight checklist, including chamber integrity scans and hardware audits, ensures error-free operation. Fifteen sensors monitor filament flow, detecting issues like grinding or clogging, while auto bed leveling and vibration compensation minimize defects like ringing at high speeds.

 

 

Dual Extruder System

The H2D Combo features a dual-extruder setup with a single hotend housing two nozzles, allowing simultaneous printing with two materials or colors. This system uses a flow blocker to prevent oozing from the inactive nozzle, ensuring clean transitions during multi-material prints. The hotends reach up to 350°C, supporting high-performance filaments like polycarbonate (PC, ~260–300°C melting point) and polyphenylene sulfide (PPS, ~280–310°C). This capability is ideal for creating complex parts, such as rigid PLA structures with flexible TPU components, with a transition time of ~0.5–1 second per material swap.

 

 
 
 
 

Upgrade Options to H2D Full Laser Combo

 

 

 

To transform the H2D Combo into a full Laser Combo with engraving and cutting capabilities, Bambu Lab offers a comprehensive upgrade kit, including:

 

Laser Module: Available in 10W or 40W variants (~450 nm blue diode laser, power density ~10–40 W/cm²) for engraving and cutting materials like wood, plastic, and fabric.

 

Cutting Module: Enhances precision for cutting thin materials (<5 mm), such as paper or vinyl, for custom designs.

 

Smoke Exhaust System: Includes a 50–100 CFM fan and pipe to remove particulates, ensuring a clean workspace and protecting printer components.

 

Emergency Stop Button: Adds a safety feature to halt operations instantly, critical for laser use.

 

Laser Protective Windows: Green-tinted panels to block harmful laser light, ensuring operator safety.

 

Air Assist Pump: Provides 20–30 L/min airflow to clear debris during cutting, improving edge quality.

 

The upgrade process requires basic hand tools (screwdrivers and wrenches) and takes approximately 30–60 minutes. Bambu Lab provides detailed instructional videos to guide users, ensuring a smooth and safe installation. The upgraded printer supports additional functionalities like engraving dental models or cutting templates, expanding its utility for dental and creative workflows.
