The iglidur® i151-PF is a specialized tribofilament developed by igus® to meet the stringent requirements of the food and packaging industries . It combines the ease of use of standard filaments like PLA with the high-performance characteristic of engineering plastics:

 

integrated solid lubrication.

 

Designed as a blue, optically detectable variant of the popular iglidur i150, this filament allows for the additive manufacturing of maintenance-free, wear-resistant parts that are compliant with both FDA and EU Regulation 10/2011 for food contact

Technical Specifications and Material Properties

 

iglidur i151-PF is a thermoplastic compound enriched with solid lubricants. This unique composition ensures that printed parts exhibit a low coefficient of friction and high abrasion resistance, particularly in low-speed sliding applications (safe up to 0.2 m/s).

 

 

 

Mechanical Strength: It offers a flexural strength of 43 MPa (when printed flat) and a flexural modulus of approximately 1,400 MPa, providing good toughness and dimensional stability for functional parts.

 

 

Thermal Limits: The material is designed for continuous use at temperatures up to 65°C, with short-term exposure possible up to 75°C. It maintains its properties down to -30°C.

 

 

Hardness: With a Shore D hardness of 69, it strikes a balance between flexibility and rigidity.

Food Compliance: The filament fully conforms to FDA requirements and EU Regulation 10/2011, making it suitable for manufacturing components that come into contact with foodstuffs.

3D Printing Guidelines

 

The iglidur i151-PF is classified as an "all-rounder" filament due to its forgiving nature on standard FDM printers . 

 

For optimal results, adhere to the following parameters derived from official processing instructions:

 

 

 

 

 

Nozzle Temperature: 235°C – 245°C (using a minimum 0.4 mm nozzle).

 

Build Plate: Heated bed between 65°C and 80°C. If your printer lacks a heated bed, the igus® "Adhesive film for the print bed" is mandatory .

 

Print Speed: 30 – 50 mm/s.

 

Cooling Fan: Set to a maximum of 20-30% or turn it off entirely to ensure maximum layer adhesion and part strength
