iglidur®  i180-PF

The Self-Lubricating Filament for High-Performance Wear Parts

The iglidur® i180-PF is a professional-grade tribo-filament engineered specifically for the additive manufacturing of functional, moving parts. While standard filaments like PLA or ABS fail under friction, the i180-PF is infused with solid lubricants, making it entirely self-lubricating and up to 50 times more wear-resistant than conventional 3D printing materials.

Why Choose iglidur® I180-PF?

A Balance of Strength and Sliding Properties

This filament is the ideal choice for engineers and designers who need a reliable material for applications where both mechanical strength and low friction are critical. It offers a versatile combination of properties:

Exceptional Wear Resistance: Designed for high-dynamic applications with higher surface speeds, it guarantees a long operational lifespan for your printed parts.

Self-Lubricating Properties: The integrated solid lubricants ensure low friction coefficients (0.17 against stainless steel, 0.24 against steel) , making it perfect for maintenance-free plain bearings.

Good Thermal Stability: It can withstand continuous use temperatures up to 80°C (with some dynamic tests showing capabilities up to 100°C) and short-term peaks up to 120°C.

Electrical Insulation: With high specific volume and surface resistivity (>10¹² Ω cm), it is suitable for applications in electrical engineering.

Technical Performance & Reliability

The i180-PF bridges the gap between ease of printing and industrial endurance. It maintains its structural integrity at continuous temperatures up to 80°C (with peaks reaching 100°C). With a max surface pressure of 30 MPa, it handles significant mechanical loads without deforming.

Expert Printing Recommendations

To achieve the best results with iglidur® i180-PF, a controlled printing environment is necessary.

Nozzle Temperature: 250°C – 260°C.

Heated Bed: 90°C – 110°C is mandatory.

Enclosure: A closed print chamber is required to manage thermal shrinkage and prevent warping.

Adhesion: Use specialized adhesive films or bonding agents specifically designed for tribo-polymers to ensure a stable first layer.

Engineered for Motion

This material is the go-to solution for technical components subjected to constant stress. It excels in applications requiring high surface speeds and durability. Unlike entry-level tribo-filaments, the i180-PF offers enhanced thermal stability and superior mechanical strength, making it ideal for:

Custom Plain Bearings & Bushings: Eliminate the need for external grease or oil.

High-Dynamics Gears: Silent operation with high abrasion resistance.

Drive Nuts & Lead Screw Systems: Low friction coefficients for precision movement.

Industrial Prototypes: Test functional parts under real-world mechanical loads.
