H2D Pro Unpacked – What’s Inside and How to Start

Phase 1 : Unpacked and Assembled (Built for Business)

The H2D Pro is not a desktop hobby machine; it's a professional-grade system. Its large size is immediately apparent upon delivery. While the packaging is notably eco-friendly, handling the machine requires care (and potentially two people), signaling its robust, production-ready build.

 

What to Expect During Setup:

 

  1. ​Removing Transport Security:  The initial setup primarily involves removing all protective measures. This includes exterior tape, internal foam blocks (critical for axis protection), and plastic zip ties securing the print head and gantry system.
  2. Identifying Core Components: Note the distinct dual-extruder print head and the sheer quality of the internal components—a sign that this machine is engineered for endurance.
  3. Quick Transition to Operation: Despite its complexity, the H2D Pro is designed for rapid deployment. The focus here is on efficiently moving from package to powered unit.

 

Phase 2 : Connecting the Material Ecosystem

 

The H2D Pro’s true value in a production environment lies in its advanced material handling, which must be connected immediately. The printer is supplied with the comprehensive Dual Material System: the AMS HT (High Temperature) and the AMS 2 Pro.

 

  • Wiring and Tubing: Connect the power and data cables to the rear of the printer, then link the AMS units using the data cables and PTFE tubes. This connectivity establishes the multi-material pipeline.
  • High-Temperature Readiness (AMS HT): The AMS HT is essential for technical materials. By placing the included desiccant sachets, you activate the high-temperature drying system, making the machine instantly ready to run moisture-sensitive filaments like PA (Nylon), PC (Polycarbonate), and various CF/GF composites—materials crucial for high-performance parts.
  • Multi-Color/Multi-Material Loading (AMS 2 Pro): Load your spools. The AMS 2 Pro module is what unlocks the H2D Pro’s capability for complex assemblies or aesthetic multi-color parts without user intervention.

 

​​Phase 3 : Power-On and System Initialization

Flick the main power switch. The machine is designed to quickly transition from initial power-on to print-ready status:

 

 

 

1. Touchscreen Interface: The large touchscreen wakes up, guiding you through language selection and network setup (including professional options like Ethernet and WPA2-Enterprise Wi-Fi).

2. CAutomated Calibration: The H2D Pro immediately begins its initialization process. This automated sequence ensures the print head and bed are perfectly calibrated, providing a reliable foundation for every subsequent print job.

3. Precision Engineering: Key features ready to be engaged include the Tungsten Carbide Nozzle (for superior resistance against abrasive, production-grade filaments) and the Vision Encoder system, guaranteeing ultra-fine positional accuracy down to $50~mu m$ across the entire build plate.
